The United Nations habitat, whose mandate is to address issues related to Urban settlement has invited public and private organizations to make their submissions for the U.N habitat Business Awards so as to assist the U.N habitat develop ideas and practical solutions to address the major challenges facing urbanization globally. The Business Awards is one of the activities the U.N has undertaken to invite and recognize private sectors suggestions and solutions that will culminate with the World Urban Forum 4 to be held in Nanjing China from the 3rd - 8th of November where the presentations will be made. |

Kenya’s First Medium Term Plan Unveiled |

The government of Kenya has begun to circulate the First Medium term Plan (2008-2012) which is the first in a series of five medium plans to achieve the vision 2030. The book outlines the plans that the government intends to put in place to achieve the vision 2030 in the next five years and takes over from the Economic Recovery strategy for wealth and employment creation, 2003-2007. |

Transport costs now stifles business growth |

Following the Prime minister’s 90 day ultimatum on the Rift Valley’s railways concession deal, Kenyan business can sigh in relief in the hope that the costs of transporting goods and services will eventually go down. This is because currently transportation is fast becoming the most expensive item in the cost of a product overtaking other costs like energy, labor and taxes. |
